Internships
Because of business expansion Remedy IT has student training assignments available for IT students.
Internship 1:
Objective of the assignment: Design and implementation of CORBA Reflection service support for TAO
Description of the assignment: The CORBA Reflection specification describes a way for applications to make interface metadata available to the outside world. An interface repository standard has been in existence for some time, but it has the disadvantage that a separate service is required for publishing the metadata. With CORBA Reflection, an application can make the metadata available itself. This allows, for example, scripting clients to make dynamic calls to a CORBA server.
The assignment consists of the analysis of the existing reflection specifications, creating a design for the implementation and then the full implementation of this standard. An important design requirement is to avoid overhead for servers not using CORBA Reflection.
When the implementation is complete, it will be added to the open source TAO implementation.
There are also other CORBA services for which TAO does not supply an implementation; we are open to proposals for assignments concerning other CORBA services.
Specific knowledge: C++ required (TAO is 100% written in C++), with a preference for cross platform development, as the implemented service must work on a large number of operating systems.
Special details: The point of contact is our office in Nijkerk (GLD). The work will be performed at our office and/or elsewhere, by mutual agreement.
